New patients
Your first visit, start to finish.
Forty-five minutes, not fifteen. Enough to take a history properly, do what needs doing on the day, and leave with a plan you can read.
Before you come
Four things to bring
- Your insurance card and a photo ID.
- A list of anything you take, including supplements and anything prescribed by another practice.
- The date your last period started, if you know it.
- Any imaging or pathology from elsewhere — we would rather review the original than repeat it.
On the day
What happens
-
01
History first
Sitting down and dressed. Nobody takes a history from someone in a gown.
-
02
Examination and where it is indicated, ultrasound in the office at the same visit.
-
03
A working diagnosis explained in plain language
With what we are not yet sure about said out loud.
-
04
A written plan
Including the alternatives we ruled out and why.
Common questions before a first visit
How long is the appointment?
Forty-five minutes for a new patient. Follow-up visits are typically twenty.
Do I need a referral?
On most HMO products, yes; on most PPO products, no. The insurance page lists which plans require one.
Can I bring someone?
Yes, to any part of the visit, including the examination.
What if I need something you do not do?
We say so and name who does it. Interventional radiology for embolisation and maternal-fetal medicine for the most complex pregnancies are referred out, and we arrange the transfer rather than leaving it to you.
Know before you book.
Vireo opens in 2027. Until then the plan list, panel status and first-available wait for every office are published on this site and kept current. Questions can go to the practice office on (305) 555-0180.
